Tarn Taran, December 2 — The Home Department has transferred DIG Firozpur Range Harmanbir Singh Gill and posted him to PAP Jalandhar, a move widely viewed as a major action taken during the ongoing election-related administrative reshuffle in the district.
Over the past two months, several police personnel in Tarn Taran were either transferred to other districts or suspended following directions from the Election Commission and the DGP during the by-election period. These actions have created a sense of apprehension among officials still serving in the district, who fear further suspensions or disciplinary measures.
The transfer of DIG Gill has added to that atmosphere. According to the official order issued by the Home Department, the responsibility of overseeing the entire Firozpur Range has now been handed over to DCP Ludhiana (Local) Snehdeep Sharma, IPS.
The decision is also believed to be linked to dissatisfaction over the handling of the Kanchanpreet Kaur case, where authorities reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory response or take firm action.
Notably, during the by-election and the Kanchanpreet Kaur case, Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Grewal and two DSPs have already been suspended. Earlier, several police personnel were also shifted out of the district.
