Gurpreet Singh :- Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (Dhurandhar 2) has smashed box office records, surpassing the opening-day collection of 2023’s blockbuster “Jawan.” According to trade analysts, the film earned over Rs 97 crore on its first day, while ‘Jawan’ had collected Rs 75 crore on day one.
Adding the paid previews, which raked in Rs 47 crore, the film’s total first-day earnings reached Rs 144 crore. Trade portal Sacnilk reports that advance bookings for the first weekend have already touched Rs 200 crore. With around 40-50% of seats typically booked in advance, industry experts predict that Dhurandhar 2 could cross Rs 500 crore by Sunday.
The film runs for 3 hours and 49 minutes, making it the second-longest Bollywood film of the 21st century. The only longer release in recent times was JP Dutta’s 2003 epic “LOC Kargil”, which ran for 4 hours 15 minutes. The international version of Dhurandhar 2 extends to 3 hours 55 minutes.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge features Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. The film is written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar as co-producers. It is presented by Jio Studios under the B62 Studios banner.
The first part of Dhurandhar was a massive success both domestically and internationally, earning approximately Rs 1,303 crore worldwide. In India, the film grossed Rs 1,005.85 crore, with a net collection of around Rs 836.95 crore, making it the highest-grossing Hindi single-language film in the country.
Overseas, the film earned about Rs 299.5 crore, with strong performances in the USA and Canada, where it collected Rs 193.06 crore, surpassing the record of Baahubali 2. Interestingly, this success came despite the film not being released in Gulf countries. Dhurandhar also became the highest-grossing ‘A’ rated Indian film ever.
