New Delhi, December 3— India’s aviation regulator DGCA has launched an investigation into widespread disruptions across IndiGo’s network and has directed the airline to provide a detailed explanation for the surge in flight cancellations and delays.
IndiGo, the country’s largest carrier, cancelled more than 100 flights on Wednesday across multiple airports, while several other services faced long delays. The airline continued to struggle with major operational challenges, with a shortage of crew emerging as the key reason behind the disruptions. IndiGo said it will implement calibrated schedule adjustments over the next 48 hours to stabilise operations.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in an official statement, said it is closely examining the situation and is working with the airline to identify measures to reduce passenger inconvenience. The regulator has sought clarity on the causes behind the current disruptions and the airline’s strategy to restore normalcy.
“IndiGo has been asked to report to DGCA Headquarters to present the facts leading to the current situation, along with plans to mitigate the ongoing delays and cancellations,” the authority said.
The regulator added that it will continue monitoring the airline’s operations until service stability is restored.
