Derabassi, April 17, 2025: In a major development following the violent clash at Derabassi Civil Hospital, Mohali SSP Dr. Deepak Pareek suspended Station House Officer (SHO) Mandeep Singh just a day after his transfer. The suspension comes in response to his failure to maintain law and order during the clash between two factions from Mukandpur village.
Sources suggest the SHO was held accountable for negligence during the confrontation, which turned bloody. The SSP reportedly took serious note of his failure to respond effectively and took strict disciplinary action. The SHO had been transferred to police lines only a day earlier.
The clash stemmed from an ongoing dispute between supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress over alleged illegal mining in Mukandpur village. Tensions escalated, and injured individuals were brought to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Given the sensitive nature of the situation, senior police officials had instructed riot control teams and Derabassi police to remain on high alert outside the hospital.
However, reports claim that just before the altercation, the police allegedly left the hospital premises, which allowed both factions to violently attack each other inside the hospital, damaging public property in the process.
Taking serious cognizance of the matter, SSP Dr. Pareek deemed SHO Mandeep Singh responsible for the lapse and took swift action by suspending him following his recent transfer.
