Dense Fog and Toxic Air Disrupt Flights at Delhi Airport, Advisory Issued

National Times Bureau :- Dense fog and hazardous air quality continued to disrupt normal life in the national capital on Tuesday, prompting the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to issue a fog advisory warning passengers of possible delays and disruptions in flight operations. In an early morning update shared on social media around 6:06 am, Delhi Airport authorities said that flight services were gradually recovering, but some arrivals and departures could still be affected due to reduced visibility.

Passengers were advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest and most accurate information regarding flight schedules. The airport management also assured travellers that adequate ground staff had been deployed across all terminals to assist passengers and ensure smooth coordination during the foggy conditions. Authorities thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation as operations stabilised.

The advisory comes amid persistent dense fog and severe smog in Delhi, which significantly lowered visibility during early morning hours and impacted air traffic movement. At the same time, air quality in the city remained a major concern. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index stood at 378 around 8 am, placing it in the “very poor” category. Although this marked a slight improvement from Monday evening, when the AQI touched 427, pollution levels continued to remain dangerously high.

Several areas, including India Gate and Sarai Kale Khan, recorded very poor air quality, while Ghazipur and Anand Vihar slipped into the “severe” category. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as pollution-control measures remain in force.
