New Delhi, March 14, 2025 – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday to accelerate efforts to make Delhi cleaner and reduce pollution. The meeting included Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and officials from the Environment Department, Delhi Police, CAQM, DDA, PWD, and the Municipal Corporation.
Gupta directed all departments to take swift and concrete steps to control pollution. “The government is committed to improving air quality, expanding green spaces, and creating a healthier capital with the cooperation of Delhi residents,” she posted on X.
Disaster Preparedness and Climate Action
A day earlier, Gupta chaired a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to assess Delhi’s vulnerability to natural disasters. They reviewed the city’s preparedness for earthquakes, urban flooding, and extreme heat events under the State Heat Action Plan 2025.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) agreed to provide technological support to restructure the DDMA and establish a Central Command Centre (CCC). Saxena urged officials to make land available quickly, while Gupta asked them to resolve logistical issues left unaddressed by the previous administration.
Officials were tasked with preparing a comprehensive action plan for the Summer Heat Action Plan 2025 and flood management within a month. The plan will cover water availability, desilting of drains, drainage management, and the installation of necessary equipment.
Gupta’s government is aiming to strengthen infrastructure and improve disaster response before the summer and monsoon seasons.
