New Delhi, November 18, 2025 — Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport intercepted and seized 1.2 kilograms of gold concealed within machine spare parts. A passenger arriving from Singapore on November 15 was arrested in connection with the discovery.
During questioning, the suspect revealed that he is the CEO of a firm dealing with industrial machine parts and had come to pick up a 10.8 kg consignment at the airport’s courier terminal. He told officials that the cargo contained gold hidden inside the spare parts.
Scanners had flagged suspicious images during the inspection of the package, prompting a detailed examination. Upon opening, customs officers found 1,200 grams of gold packed within the machinery components.
The man has been detained, and further investigation into the case is underway, according to customs officials.
