Kurukshetra, November 22, 2025: The International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra continues to draw prominent national leaders, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh scheduled to inaugurate the Haryana Pavilion at Brahmasarovar on November 24. A day later, on November 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive to participate in the grand Maha Aarti. Public enthusiasm for the festival has surged, and officials expect the footfall to cross 70 lakh this year.
A government spokesperson said the International Gita Mahotsav has been underway since November 15. With assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs, Gita Jayanti celebrations are being organized across 50 countries. Madhya Pradesh has been included as the partner state for this year’s festivities.
On November 24, the three-day International Gita Seminar will be inaugurated at Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Sadan in Kurukshetra University. To ensure a memorable celebration, the entire city is being decorated with lights, while large-scale cleanliness campaigns are in progress.
The spokesperson further stated that on November 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony at Jyotisar, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. A massive pandal spread across 155 acres has been set up at the venue, where nearly 1.5 lakh devotees from across the state are expected.
In preparation, major intersections in Kurukshetra are being themed on the Mahabharata era. Additionally, all temples in the city are being illuminated to enhance the festive ambience.
