Amritsar, September 14: Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Sakshi Sahni today convened an important meeting with NGOs in the presence of Member of Parliament Vikramjit Singh Sahni and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. The meeting focused on rehabilitation of flood-affected families, livelihood restoration, and preparations for the winter season.
Discussions highlighted the urgent need for warm clothing for families, heavy machinery such as JCBs to remove sand deposited in fields, around 8,000 school kits for children, and support to revive self-help group businesses such as pickles and handicrafts. Other issues included livestock care, poultry farms, and the supply of diesel and agricultural chemicals required for farming.

MP Vikramjit Singh Sahni appreciated the efforts of DC Sakshi Sahni and her team, announcing the provision of five JCB machines for sand removal. He further declared that the Sun Foundation Skill Centre would provide free plumber and electrician services to affected families.
NGOs including Sarbat Da Bhala, Pingalwara, Khalsa Aid, Reliance Foundation, Kalgidhar Trust, Red Cross Society, and other local organizations pledged full support to the relief mission. MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal praised the collective effort and urged all stakeholders to work together for the welfare of the people in his constituency.
The main aim of the meeting was to ensure livelihood restoration for flood-hit families and build complete coordination between government, parliament, legislators, and NGOs. On the occasion, Sarbat Da Bhala Trust assured uninterrupted supply of fodder for livestock, while Kalgidhar Trust committed to further assistance for those in need.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Gupta, Amanpreet Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Khushdeep Singh, Sarbat Da Bhala Trust President Sukhjinder Singh Her, Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, Manpreet Singh, Red Cross Secretary Samson Masih, volunteers from different organizations, and other officials were also present.
