Faridabad, April 11 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the “Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0” from Faridabad today, sending it on its route to Gurugram. Addressing the gathering, CM Saini reiterated the state’s firm resolve to make every household in Haryana free from the grip of drugs. He emphasized that the campaign is not just a government initiative but a collective responsibility of youth, parents, and social institutions.
The Chief Minister said that to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a clean, healthy, and empowered India, building a drug-free Haryana is essential. He pointed out that drug addiction is not just an individual issue—it is a social, psychological, and economic problem that weakens families and darkens the future of the youth.
While boosting the morale of the cyclists at the event, CM Saini noted that the message carried by this cyclothon is spreading rapidly through villages and cities. He said the enthusiasm seen among young people is a strong sign that this campaign is playing a pivotal role in raising awareness.
Launched from Hisar on April 5, the cyclothon has traveled through Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Narnaul, Rewari, and Palwal before reaching Faridabad, and will conclude its journey on April 27 after covering the entire state. Over a million people have already registered in support of the initiative.
Urging cyclists to focus on how far they’ve come rather than how far they still have to go, the Chief Minister encouraged them to stay positive and inspired. He administered an anti-drug oath to the crowd and stressed that the mission is a symbol of collective commitment to a better future.
CM Saini described the movement not as a mere journey but as a full-fledged public revolution. He appealed to elders, women, parents, teachers, and community organizations to unite in fighting this battle. He also urged open conversations about addiction at home and encouraged compassion over condemnation for those already struggling.
Haryana’s government has introduced stringent laws to curb drug trafficking and is pushing forward with full commitment. However, the Chief Minister added, real change comes when people unite in awareness and action. This cyclothon is a key step in that mass movement.
The first edition of the cyclothon in 2023 lasted 25 days and saw participation from over 1.77 lakh cyclists and more than 5.25 lakh citizens. Inspired by that success, Cyclothon 2.0 is back with even more energy and wider reach.
Two new advanced life support ambulances were also flagged off in Faridabad today, adding to the district health department’s emergency response fleet.
Sporting a pink theme in Faridabad to emphasize women’s participation, the cyclothon saw massive registration numbers, with 49,111 people signing up—making it the most successful turnout yet. International athletes like Karnam Malleswari and para-athlete Pranav Surma also joined the event to encourage the cyclists and promote the anti-drug message.
