Crackdown on Organized Crime: AGTF Punjab Arrests Two Bambiha Gang Operatives

Barnala, Punjab, October 12, 2025: In a significant blow to organized crime in the state, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, working alongside Barnala Police, arrested two operatives of the Davinder Bambiha Gang and recovered six firearms, officials said on Sunday. This operation is part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ongoing initiative to strengthen law and order across Punjab.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep Singh, hailing from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, and Sekher, a resident of Kaithal in Haryana. Police seized one PX5 pistol, one .30 bore pistol, four .32 bore pistols, and 19 live cartridges. A Maruti Swift car (registration PB01AX0945), used by the accused to transport the weapons, was also impounded.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav stated that initial investigations suggest the suspects were operating under instructions from foreign-based handlers of the Bambiha Gang, intending to supply firearms to gang foot soldiers for carrying out major crimes in Punjab. Authorities are continuing investigations to map the full supply chain and dismantle the network entirely.

ADGP AGTF Punjab Promod Ban explained that actionable intelligence, both human and technical, enabled the swift arrest of the suspects near the Barnala-Bathinda main road at Dhaula village. The operation was conducted under the supervision of AIG AGTF Sandeep Goel, with AGTF Inspector Vikram and CIA Barnala Inspector Baljit Singh leading the field teams.

Both suspects have prior criminal records, including cases under the Arms Act. SSP Barnala Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam confirmed that FIR No. 107, dated October 11, 2025, has been registered at Rureke Kalan Police Station under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Investigations are ongoing, and police expect more arrests and recoveries in the coming days.
