Counter Intelligence Amritsar Busts Drug and Arms Smuggling Module; Two Held With Heroin and Pistols

Gurpreet Singh :- In a major breakthrough against organised crime, Counter Intelligence Amritsar has uncovered a cross-border narcotics and illegal arms smuggling network, leading to the arrest of two accused persons and the recovery of 5.5 kilograms of heroin along with four pistols and ten live cartridges.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with a foreign-based smuggler and had received the consignment for further distribution of weapons and ammunition within Punjab.

A case has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to trace both backward and forward linkages of the network as well as identify other associates connected to the module.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, while sharing details of the operation, stated that the Punjab Police remains firmly committed to its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics trafficking, illegal arms trade and organised criminal activities in the state.
