Conservatives Sweep Northeast Calgary
“Jasraj Hallan, Amanpreet Gill, and Dalwinder Gill Elected MPs “

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): The Conservative Party has secured a decisive victory in Calgary’s northeast region, winning all three major ridings in the area during Canada’s 2025 federal election. The results reaffirm the party’s stronghold in Alberta, even as the Liberals, led by Mark Carney, formed a minority government nationally. Voters in Calgary East, Skyview, and McKnight ridings have backed Conservative candidates in the 2025 federal election.

Jasraj Singh Hallan has been re-elected for the third time as the Member of Parliament for the newly created Calgary East riding, carrying forward his momentum from previously representing Calgary Forest Lawn. Known for his vocal stance on economic issues and public safety, Hallan’s win signals continued trust from his constituents.

In Calgary Skyview, Amanpreet S. Gill has emerged victorious, flipping the seat from the Liberals. The riding, once represented by George Chahal, saw a competitive race, but Gill’s grassroots campaign and strong connection with local communities gave him the edge. Meanwhile, in the newly established Calgary McKnight riding, Conservative candidate Dalwinder Gill has clinched his first term as MP. The riding, created during the 2022 electoral redistribution, includes densely populated neighborhoods such as Martindale, Saddle Ridge, Taradale, and Falconridge areas where Gill’s outreach efforts paid off.

Speaking to National Times after the results, all three MPs emphasized their commitment to addressing local issues, including immigration backlogs, rising cost of living, crime prevention, and infrastructure development in growing northeast neighborhoods. “We heard you loud and clear,” said Amanpreet Gill at his victory speech. “We will work hard every single day to bring your concerns to Ottawa and fight for a better future for northeast Calgary.” Dalwinder Gill also acknowledged the historic nature of the Conservative sweep. “This is not just a victory for a party; it’s a victory for every hardworking family in this region who wants change, who wants leadership, and who wants action.”

Despite the Conservatives’ regional success, they will serve in opposition nationally, as the Liberal Party returned with a slim minority. The results highlight a growing political divide between urban centers in eastern Canada and the conservative stronghold of the Prairies. Nonetheless, with three voices now representing northeast Calgary in Ottawa, the region is poised to have a strong presence in Parliament.
