Congress Targets Haryana Govt Over Short Assembly Session, Flags Unemployment and Farmer Distress

National Times Bureau :- Congress MLA Jassi Petwar on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Haryana government over the brief three-day winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, alleging that it was deliberately curtailed to evade tough questions from the opposition. Speaking on the first day of the session, Petwar claimed the BJP-led government was “afraid of the Congress” and had failed to address pressing issues facing the state.

He accused the government of poor performance on unemployment, law and order, and farmer welfare, pointing out that Haryana currently ranks high in unemployment figures. Referring to official claims, Petwar said the presence of more than 80 active gangs in the state reflected a complete breakdown of law and order. He also raised concerns over the alleged paddy scam and the suspension of several officials, stressing the need for accountability.

Highlighting agrarian distress, the Congress MLA said farmers were denied Minimum Support Price, further deepening their crisis. He alleged that instead of addressing real issues, the government was diverting attention by focusing on caste and religion.

Asserting Congress’s role as the principal opposition, Petwar said the party had consistently raised public issues both on the streets and inside the House and would strongly press for answers during the session.

The three-day winter session of the Haryana Assembly began on Thursday, with eight Bills tabled on the opening day, including amendments related to shrines, municipal corporations, panchayati raj institutions, and municipalities.
