Chandigarh, October 10 — Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Rao Narendra Singh met the family of late IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar Singh in Chandigarh today and expressed deep condolences over his tragic death.
Rao described the officer as an honest and fearless individual who was forced to take the extreme step, calling it a “painful reflection of systemic failure and the injustice faced by Dalit officers.” He said the incident has caused nationwide concern and widespread outrage among justice-seeking citizens.
He added that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has personally directed him to ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly and to assure the bereaved family that the Congress party stands firmly by their side until justice is served.
Criticizing the Haryana government sharply, Rao said, “The government’s silence and inaction show that those in power stand with injustice. If a fair and independent probe is not initiated immediately, the Congress will launch a massive state-wide agitation that the government will not be able to contain.”
Rao further announced that, under the directions of the Congress high command, party workers will stage demonstrations at all district headquarters across Haryana in the next three days to express solidarity with the family and to raise public awareness about the injustice.
