New Delhi, February 19, 2025: After a seven-hour-long strategy meeting, the Congress has unveiled a series of revitalization measures to regain political ground following multiple electoral setbacks this year.
The meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, included key leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, and Digvijay Singh, along with 30 general secretaries and state in-charges.
Focus on Strengthening Grassroots Structure
Speaking after the meeting, Jairam Ramesh emphasized that the party’s primary focus will be on empowering its district Congress committees (DCCs). With nearly 800 DCCs nationwide, the goal is to establish stronger accountability and grassroots-level leadership. He also declared 2025 as the party’s “Organisational Year.”
‘Samvidhaan Bachao Yatra’ to Begin Soon
As part of its nationwide outreach, Congress will launch the ‘Samvidhaan Bachao Yatra’ within the next two to three weeks. Unlike the Bharat Jodo Yatra, this will be a relay march across India, starting from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The initiative aims to engage with people, understand their aspirations, and address concerns about democracy and constitutional values.
AICC Session in Gujarat
Congress has also decided to hold its next All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Gujarat, a state it considers the epicenter of democratic challenges. Ramesh said, “We are taking the battle to where democracy has been throttled.”
