New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Small and medium enterprises in major metropolitan cities will see a slight reduction in operational costs as the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders has been lowered, effective Saturday, November 1. The move comes from state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) and provides relief to businesses heavily dependent on LPG.
Under the new pricing structure, commercial cylinder rates in key metros are as follows:
- Delhi: Rs 1,590.50 (down Rs 5)
- Kolkata: Rs 1,694.00 (down Rs 6.50)
- Mumbai: Rs 1,542.00 (down Rs 5)
- Chennai: Rs 1,750.00 (down Rs 4.50)
Among the cities, Kolkata witnessed the steepest decline. The reduction reverses part of the Rs 15.50 increase in September for the same 19-kg cylinder.
Benefits for the Commercial Sector
The revised prices are expected to ease expenses for businesses such as restaurants, hotels, catering services, and other commercial establishments that rely on LPG for day-to-day operations. While the decrease is modest, industry insiders say it comes as a welcome relief amid persistent fuel price fluctuations.
Domestic Cylinders Remain Steady
It is important to note that the cost of domestic LPG cylinders has not changed across cities, so household consumers will continue paying the same rates.
With this adjustment, commercial LPG users in metropolitan areas can anticipate slightly lower monthly costs, offering some financial breathing room as energy prices continue to be monitored for stability.
The move reflects the government’s efforts to support businesses while maintaining balance in domestic fuel pricing, amid ongoing global fuel market uncertainties.
