National Times Bureau :- Punjab is now firmly in the grip of severe winter conditions, with the cold wave escalating to alarming levels across the state. The Meteorological Department on Friday issued a Yellow Alert for six districts, signalling the onset of dangerously low temperatures and harsh weather.
The districts placed under the alert include Fazilka, Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Faridkot, Jalandhar and Moga, where icy winds and a sharp fall in minimum temperatures have created a heightened risk for vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly, children and those with health concerns.
Officials have advised residents to take adequate precautions, avoid early morning exposure, and keep themselves warm as night temperatures are expected to slide further in the coming days. The cold wave is also likely to affect daily routines, with foggy conditions predicted to impact road visibility and travel plans.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, urging the public to stay updated with regular weather bulletins and follow safety advisories during this intense spell of winter.
