CM Saini Highlights Media’s Vital Role in Nation-Building Through the Power of the Pen

Chandigarh, May 30 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the powerful role of journalism in shaping the nation since independence, stating that media plays a pivotal role in nation-building through the strength of the written word. He praised journalists who align their work with national interest and called press freedom a cornerstone of democracy, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s positive vision for India.

The Chief Minister made these remarks on Friday at the annual convention of the Haryana Union of Working Journalists, held at the Radha Krishnan Auditorium of Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak. As the chief guest, he extended greetings to all journalists on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day and saluted them as sentinels of the pen. Also present were Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, former minister Manish Grover, and Baba Kapilpuri Ji Maharaj as special guests. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, CM Saini described all journalists as descendants of Maharshi Narad Muni, symbolizing their role in upholding the ethical duty of journalism. He paid tribute to Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji on his martyrdom day and revered Arut Maharaj on his birth anniversary. Saini stated that the dream of a developed India envisioned by PM Modi is steadily becoming a reality, with the nation progressing toward global leadership.

Highlighting the contribution of journalists during the freedom movement, the CM said that journalists have always been the thought leaders who guide society and contribute to national progress. As the fourth pillar of democracy, the media has continuously fulfilled its responsibilities, and the Haryana government is actively taking steps to safeguard the interests of journalists.

He acknowledged the significant role of media in spreading awareness about government welfare schemes, inspiring social consciousness, and ensuring that people benefit from various initiatives. The Chief Minister encouraged media professionals to focus on ethical journalism and raise awareness about the government’s efficient governance practices. He reiterated that his administration is committed to creating a media-friendly environment, enabling journalists to write fearlessly in the public interest.

On this occasion, CM Saini announced a grant of ₹21 lakh for the Haryana Union of Working Journalists and assured the union that its demands would be considered sympathetically.

Present at the event were Rohtak Mayor Ramavatar Balmiki, BJP District President Ranbir Dhaka, Commissioner P.C. Meena, ADGP Y. Purn Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Dharmendra Singh, and the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Rajiv Jaitley, among other dignitaries.
