Chandigarh, July 29: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to assess the need for fire stations across the state, keeping in view the growing population, to ensure that new fire stations are established wherever required.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of CM announcements, Saini emphasized that it is the state government’s responsibility to provide road, electricity, and water facilities to hilly and remote regions like Morni. He stated that even if there’s only one household in an area, departments must take immediate action to provide all basic amenities to prevent any inconvenience to residents.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department to launch a special campaign, in coordination with the Urban Local Bodies Department and the Cow Service Commission, to make Haryana stray cattle-free within two months. He asked that all stray cattle be shifted from streets and public spaces to cow shelters.
While reviewing progress, Saini mentioned that Nandishalas (bull shelters) have already been established in Panchkula, Panipat, and Hisar, and work in other districts should be expedited. The department has been advised to explore possibilities of setting up shelters under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ensure one veterinary clinic is present at each shelter, with a visiting veterinarian available regularly.
In reviewing the Irrigation and Water Resources Department’s announcements, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing development work swiftly and with quality so the public can benefit directly. He directed that surveys begin to channel water from the Yamuna River in the Kalesar region to Panchkula and other locations, thereby advancing PM Modi’s ‘River Linking Mission’ for better water utilization in agriculture and related needs.
Saini also called for enhanced farmer support by urging the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department to keep databases for all subsidy-related schemes regularly updated for transparency. He suggested that agricultural scientists develop high-quality seeds under a new scheme to ensure better yields for farmers. The Horticulture Department was also asked to activate Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and guide farmers toward horticulture under this year’s action plan.
The CM ordered that all pending announcements made since 2014 be reviewed and completed without further delay.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary (Environment) Anand Mohan Sharan, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Vineet Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works) Anurag Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Services) G.
