CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews Relief Operations in Chamoli, Assures Full Support to Disaster-Hit Families

Chamoli (Uttarakhand), August 25: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday conducted a ground inspection of Tharali in Chamoli district, one of the areas worst affected by the recent cloudburst. During the visit, he halted his convoy to personally listen to the concerns of the disaster-hit villagers, many of whom urged him to expedite the restoration of road connectivity to upper villages.

Responding to their appeals, the chief minister assured that road clearance work was being carried out on a war footing. He further promised to visit the cut-off areas with the residents once the route was deemed safe.

Dhami interacted with affected families at the relief camp in Kulsari, taking feedback on the facilities and directing officials to ensure that no one faced difficulties. He stressed that aid must be delivered promptly and sensitively. He also announced immediate financial relief, with cheques of ₹5 lakh each for families who lost their homes or loved ones. Rehabilitation work for the displaced has already begun, according to officials.

Reviewing the relief measures, the chief minister said, “The government stands firmly with every affected family in this hour of crisis. All necessary support will be provided without delay.” He directed officials to keep rescue and relief operations running round the clock and assured that no effort would be spared in providing assistance.

District authorities confirmed that damaged roads have largely been restored and power supply will be resumed shortly. Repair work on drinking water pipelines and clearing of debris is also underway, alongside assessment of property losses.

Meanwhile, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration are engaged in evacuations, distribution of essential relief materials, and restoration of basic services across the affected region. Earlier in the day, Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting with the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police in Chamoli to oversee the ongoing operations.
