Dehradun, September 8 – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at his residence with senior government and police officials, as well as district magistrates, where he laid out detailed directions on disaster management, reconstruction, law and order, tourism, and essential public services.
Dhami stressed that the government’s foremost priority is to ensure immediate relief, safety, and basic amenities for people affected by calamities. He directed that once the monsoon ends, the administration must remain fully active for repair and reconstruction. Adequate stocks of relief materials and dry rations must be maintained, while proper arrangements for food, shelter, and necessities of affected families should be ensured.
The CM instructed that crop losses, damage to pipelines, and destruction of public property be assessed promptly and reported without delay. He reiterated that construction near rivers and streams is strictly prohibited and said officers will be held accountable for violations. All district magistrates were directed to disburse immediate financial assistance to affected families as per norms, and to regularly inspect hospitals to strengthen healthcare facilities. Preventive steps against dengue, malaria, and other water-borne diseases must be implemented swiftly, with district-level health reviews convened without delay.
On law and order, Dhami directed strict action against violators and stressed vigilance against outsiders, suspicious activities, and illegal issuance of Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and utility connections. Surveillance along border areas must be intensified, he said, while also calling for effective measures for cattle protection.
Reconstruction and infrastructure development should be expedited after the monsoon, with local workers given preference in projects. He also ordered street lighting in both rural and urban areas. Special attention must be given to the smooth resumption of the Char Dham Yatra, ensuring timely weather updates and safety for pilgrims.
The Chief Minister asked DMs to submit progress reports on CM announcements and ongoing projects within 15 days. He directed regular organisation of gram-level chaupals, tehsil days, BDC meetings, and multipurpose public camps.
Highlighting the upcoming Seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2, Dhami called for cleanliness drives, service-oriented activities, and welfare programs. DMs must personally participate in weekly sanitation campaigns, while roads are to be made pothole-free under the initiative.
He also instructed that the CM Helpline (1905) and Anti-Corruption Campaign (1064) remain active, disaster volunteers and response teams be strengthened, and mock drills conducted across districts. Certificates under the Right to Service Act must be issued in Hindi or English, as per applicants’ choice. Strict measures must also be enforced against the sale or production of counterfeit medicines.
