Chandigarh, October 4: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday appealed to traders across the state to ensure that the benefits of reduced GST rates announced by the Central Government are passed on to consumers. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citizens have gained significant relief through improvements in the GST structure.
The Chief Minister urged traders to actively participate in the “GST Savings Festival,” emphasizing that tax reductions would not only boost trade but also help consumers avail goods and services at lower prices. “Affordable prices, growing trade, and a strong economy — this is the true spirit of the GST Utsav, which will take Haryana to new heights of progress,” he stated.
Calling the revised GST rates a historic step toward building a self-reliant and resilient India, Saini said the active involvement of the business community was vital. He expressed confidence that Haryana’s traders would lead by example in ensuring that customers benefit directly from the government’s tax reforms.
Saini added that the new GST reforms introduced by Prime Minister Modi would bring substantial economic benefits to Haryana while providing direct relief to common consumers. The reforms, he said, would increase market activity and drive consumer spending, especially during the festive season. He highlighted that prices of several essential items have come down, offering additional savings to the middle class — savings that would both ease consumer expenses and open new opportunities for businesses.
Encouraging traders to contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Chief Minister urged them to prioritize the production and promotion of indigenous products. He emphasized that local manufacturing and marketing of swadeshi goods would strengthen domestic industries and make the state and national economy more robust.
Praising Haryana’s consistent performance in GST collection, Saini noted that the state’s net SGST revenue has nearly doubled over the past six years — from ₹18,910 crore in 2018–19 to ₹39,743 crore in 2024–25. He credited this achievement to the strong economy and the cooperation of the state’s business community, which has made Haryana one of India’s leading contributors in GST collection.
