Chandigarh, September 7 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday visited waterlogged areas near Naggal village in Ambala district, interacting with affected farmers and directing officials to ensure immediate drainage of excess water.
The Chief Minister, who stopped at Naggal/Hasanpur on his way from Chandigarh to Kaithal, was accompanied by former minister Aseem Goyal, BJP district president Mandeep Rana, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomar, and Superintendent of Police Ajit Singh Shekhawat.

Former minister Aseem Goyal briefed the CM that the entry of Tangri river water and rainwater into the Naggal drain (locally known as Ganda Nala) had led to a sharp rise in water levels, affecting around 40 villages. The Deputy Commissioner informed that nearly 28,000 acres of farmland under Ambala city tehsil were submerged due to the flooding.
Farmers also urged the CM to consider the construction of a siphon in the area to permanently address the problem. Saini directed officials to prepare a detailed project plan and also explore the possibility of building a drain for long-term water disposal.
During his visit, the CM met representatives of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, including Jai Singh Jalbera, and listened to farmers’ concerns about crop losses. He instructed officials to run motors near Adhomajra dam to expedite the drainage of floodwater.

Irrigation department officials informed him that natural gravity was already allowing partial water flow, while additional pumps had been installed to speed up the process. Once the water level of the Tangri river decreases, department pumps and gates will be opened to flush out the Naggal drain water, they added.
Later, the CM stopped near Segti village close to Jansui head to review another affected site. Addressing farmers, he assured that the state government had opened an e-Compensation Portal where farmers could register their losses to receive fair compensation as per rules.
District officials and several local leaders were present during the inspection.
