CM Nayab Singh Saini Inaugurates Panchnad Sadan in Fatehabad, Announces ₹31 Lakh Grant for Panchnad Seva Trust

Chandigarh, December 13 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday formally inaugurated the ground floor of Panchnad Sadan, constructed by the Panchnad Seva Trust in Fatehabad. Describing the occasion as more than just the opening of a building, the Chief Minister said Panchnad Sadan stands as a symbol of collective memory, cultural continuity, and a tribute to generations who made supreme sacrifices for the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Saini congratulated citizens, trust office-bearers, and volunteers for their efforts and announced a grant of ₹31 lakh for the Panchnad Seva Trust. Cabinet Minister Krishan Bedi and Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana were also present at the event.

The Chief Minister recalled that the foundation stone of Panchnad Sadan was laid on December 13, 2020, by the then Chief Minister and current Union Minister Manohar Lal. He said the transformation of the project into a grand and inspiring structure within five years reflects the dedication, commitment, and tireless efforts of the trust and its members.

Explaining the historical significance of the term “Panchnad,” Saini said it refers to the land of five rivers—Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Chenab, and Jhelum—which nurtured one of the world’s oldest and most prosperous civilisations. This region later came to be known as Punjab, meaning the land of five waters.

He said the Panchnad region has been a cradle of diverse faiths and cultures that flourished together in harmony, known globally for its spirit of brotherhood, hospitality, and hard work. However, he noted that history also carries painful chapters, particularly the trauma of the 1947 Partition.

The Chief Minister said the land of Panchnad witnessed one of the most brutal tragedies during Partition, when millions lost their lives, homes, and futures overnight. Entire communities were uprooted, and a rich civilisation was violently divided. He said Panchnad Sadan aims to preserve the memory of this tragedy so that future generations understand its gravity and recognise the importance of national unity.

Saini said the Punjabi community endured immense suffering during Partition, with crores forced to migrate and countless families destroyed. Despite the pain, he said Punjabis rejected hatred and violence, instead contributing to nation-building through hard work, patriotism, and social harmony.

Emphasising cultural identity, the Chief Minister said Panchnad is not a caste but a shared culture and a collective movement. He said the Punjabi community has blended seamlessly across regions and communities, playing a vital role in economic, social, and cultural development wherever it settled.

Praising the work of the Panchnad Smarak Trust, Saini said its efforts since inception have been sensitive, organised, and deeply meaningful in preserving ancestral memories. He said Panchnad Sadan is not merely a structure of bricks and mortar, but a centre that will connect hearts, offer spiritual solace, and inspire society to learn from history to build a stronger future.

The Chief Minister assured full support from the Haryana government for preserving Panchnad culture and spreading awareness about the Partition tragedy among future generations. He said Panchnad Sadan would serve as a source of inspiration not only for Haryana but for the entire country by strengthening national unity, social harmony, and cultural heritage.

Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala, former MP Sunita Duggal, and former MLA Dudar Ram also addressed the gathering. Several dignitaries, including Panchnad Seva Trust patron Bhimsen and other prominent members of society, were present at the programme.
