CM Mann Conducts Surprise Check at Mohali Sub-Registrar Office to Review ‘Easy Registration Scheme’ Rollout

Mohali, May 27, 2025 – In an unannounced visit to assess the performance of the newly launched Easy Registration Scheme, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday arrived at the Sub-Registrar Office in Mohali. The visit, which lasted over 20 minutes, aimed to ensure the seamless rollout of a citizen-centric digital registration process and gather first-hand public feedback.

CM Mann clarified that the surprise check was not intended to catch officials off guard, but rather to further streamline government functioning. “This might be the first time a Chief Minister has personally visited such an office in Punjab,” he noted, adding that the initiative is meant to bring convenient, transparent, and efficient property registration services directly to the people.

The Easy Registration Scheme, hailed by Mann as the first of its kind in India, eliminates the need for private deed writers, minimizes in-person banking transactions, and enables digital payment of all registration-related fees via a consolidated online gateway. Citizens no longer need to carry cash or generate demand drafts, thereby addressing both convenience and security concerns.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the 48-hour document pre-scrutiny and appointment-based scheduling system save citizens time and reduce work disruptions. The scheme’s “Calculate My Fees” tool, along with preset government rates, ensures cost transparency and eliminates hidden charges, he said.

During his interaction with the public, citizens praised the process, noting that registration was completed within an hour, as per their scheduled WhatsApp appointment. They congratulated the CM for launching what many called a “transformative and efficient” initiative.

CM Mann reiterated that the system promotes self-reliance and digital empowerment, and aims to eradicate middlemen and corruption from tehsil offices. “This is a step toward ‘Your Property, Your Convenience’, and part of our zero-tolerance policy on corruption,” he added.

The Chief Minister announced a statewide rollout of the scheme:

Trial phase from July 15 to August 1

Full implementation beginning August 1

Once operational across Punjab, citizens will be able to register their properties at any Sub-Registrar Office within their district, without facing bureaucratic hurdles or delays.
