Dehradun— Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to launch a special campaign to make the state’s rain-damaged roads pothole-free once the monsoon ends. Chairing a review meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, he also emphasized strict measures against those disturbing law and order and directed tighter surveillance in sensitive areas.
Dhami instructed that the tendering process for road repairs should be completed immediately, with detailed district-wise plans prepared and implemented within a fixed timeline. He said he would personally tour districts by road to inspect the condition of highways and local roads.
On law and order, the Chief Minister asked for round-the-clock monitoring of sensitive zones through CCTV cameras, intensified border checks, and stronger night patrolling by police teams. He stressed that law enforcement agencies must ensure safety across the state.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state will observe a “Seva Pakhwada” from September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, until October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. During this fortnight, districts will host public service and awareness programs focused on welfare and community engagement.
Dhami expressed concern over reports of sand being mixed into salt supplied through government ration shops. He ordered immediate sampling and testing, warning that anyone found guilty would face strict punishment.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, DGP Deepam Seth, and other senior officials.
