Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is extending its nationwide campaign to Punjab, with a protest scheduled in Amritsar today. Party founder Abhijit Deepke is expected to lead the gathering, calling upon students and young citizens to participate in what he describes as a peaceful movement demanding accountability in the education system.
According to the organisers, supporters have been asked to assemble near the Golden Gate in the evening, where concerns related to the NEET and CBSE examinations will be highlighted. The protest will also reiterate the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with party leaders alleging that students across the country deserve greater transparency and fairness.
The Amritsar event is part of a broader campaign launched by the CJP across multiple states. The initiative began in Pune and subsequently reached Lucknow, with similar programmes planned in Jaipur, Bengaluru and other cities before concluding with a major gathering at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 20.
The emergence of the Cockroach Janata Party has attracted public attention due to its unusual origins. The organisation was formed after controversial remarks made during a judicial hearing sparked widespread debate among unemployed youth and activists, prompting supporters to adopt the name as a symbol of protest.
Ahead of the Punjab programme, Abhijit Deepke also addressed speculation surrounding a viral image allegedly showing him alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He dismissed the claim, stating that the photograph had been generated using artificial intelligence and insisting that no such meeting had ever taken place.
Party representatives maintain that their campaign is focused on democratic expression and student welfare rather than political confrontation. They argue that sustained public participation can push policymakers to address concerns surrounding examinations, recruitment and educational reforms.
With growing attention on the movement, the Amritsar protest is expected to become another important milestone in the CJP’s nationwide outreach, bringing together youth voices seeking greater accountability and institutional reform.
