New Delhi, May 1, 2025 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday issued a stern warning to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that the Modi government will take “revenge one by one” and will not rest until terrorism is eliminated from Indian soil.
Speaking at an event in New Delhi to honour Bodofa Upendranath Brahma, Shah reaffirmed the Centre’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and said, “Terrorists should not think they’ve achieved a big victory. Chun chun ke badla lenge. Har vyakti ko jawab diya jayega.”
The Home Minister emphasised that no terrorist would be spared and reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to wipe out terrorism. “This is the Narendra Modi government. It is our resolve to uproot terrorism from every inch of this country and it will be accomplished,” he said, adding that the entire world stands with India in its fight against terror.
Shah reminded the public that the central government has consistently pursued a zero-tolerance approach since the 1990s and has taken decisive action against those spreading terror in Kashmir. Referring to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed, Shah said the terrorists and their backers will face a strong response.
Following the attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met and was briefed on the cross-border linkages of the assault. The CCS condemned the act in the strongest terms and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. It was noted that the attack came amidst peaceful elections and visible development progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
In response, the government has taken significant diplomatic and strategic steps, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, as a direct message to Pakistan for its alleged support of cross-border terrorism. More punitive measures are expected as the probe continues.
