Chief Minister Urges to Rise Above Politics for a Drug-Free and Empowered Haryana

Chandigarh, April 27 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini called upon the saint community, khap panchayats, sarpanches, and the people of the state to rise above political differences and unite in empowering the youth of Haryana. Flagging off the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0’ in Sirsa, he emphasized that realizing the dream of a developed India and a developed Haryana is possible only by making the state drug-free.

Addressing the gathering after flagging off the cycle rally near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, the Chief Minister said every section of society must actively participate in the fight against drugs. The Cyclothon, which began from Hisar on April 5, traveled across the state for 23 days and is concluding today in Odhan. Before the event, the Chief Minister himself cycled to the venue, spreading the message of a drug-free Haryana.

He praised the Cyclothon as a beautiful blend of energy, festivity, and unity, symbolizing the collective fight against drug addiction. He appreciated the support of the khap panchayats and congratulated the youth who tirelessly spread awareness about drug de-addiction across the state. The event, he said, was not just a rally but the beginning of a new mindset involving health, environment, road safety, and youth empowerment.

Describing Haryana as the land of soldiers, wrestlers, and farmers, the Chief Minister asserted there is no place for drugs here. He encouraged everyone to treat the Cyclothon’s conclusion not as an end but as the beginning of an intensified campaign against drugs, aiming to make every house and every village drug-free.

Highlighting government efforts, he mentioned the operation of de-addiction centers in hospitals and medical colleges, and the establishment of an interstate drug secretariat in Panchkula to curb drug trafficking.

He also outlined incentives for villages excelling in making themselves drug-free, clean, and healthy: a first prize of ₹51 lakh, second prize of ₹31 lakh, and third prize of ₹21 lakh. He urged citizens to help drug-affected individuals return to the mainstream rather than ostracizing them.

The Chief Minister mentioned the ‘MANAS Portal’, where citizens can confidentially report drug trafficking activities for swift action. SHOs have also been instructed to act promptly against any drug-related complaints in their areas, and those ensuring complete drug-free villages under their jurisdiction will be honored.

Praising the participating youth, he said they have proven that today’s generation is not only career-focused but also socially responsible and health-conscious. He called on everyone to pledge towards making Haryana a drug-free state.

On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, BJP State President Mohan Lal Kaushik, and other dignitaries were present.
