National Times Bureau :- The timings of the Beating Retreat Ceremony, held at the India-Pakistan International Border in Attary has been changed in view of the onset of winter season. The ceremony will begin at 5 pm and will go on till 5:30 pm. The revised timings are effective immediately.
However, due to the security concerns, the India-Pakistan Border gates will remain closed and there will ne no customary greetings or ceremonies between the Border Security Forces (BSF) and Pakistani Rangers.
The BSF had suspended these traditional exchanges on April 24. However, the daily flag-lowering ceremony continues to be held at the Attari, Hussainiwala, and Sadiqi borders, regardless of Pakistan’s participation.
Notably, this ceremony is internationally known as the Beating Retreat Border Ceremony. It is held every evening just before sunset, beginning with an impressive parade by soldiers from both sides and concluding with the synchronized lowering of the national flags. BSF personnel perform a grand parade on the Indian side, while the Pakistan Rangers do the same on their side. However, following Operation Sindoor, tensions between the two countries have led to the border gates remaining closed.
