Chandigarh, May 9, 2025 — In light of the escalating security situation, the Chandigarh administration has announced new precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
Starting immediately, all shops in Chandigarh will remain closed after 7 PM. Residents have also been advised to stay indoors after dark and ensure that all lights are turned off after 8 PM.
The administration has emphasized that the sirens heard in the city from now on should be treated as real alerts, with no further mock drills planned. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with the ongoing security protocols.
These directives are part of broader civil defence measures being enforced across the region amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
