Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandigarh, recently organized a training programme at Model Jail, Chandigarh, focusing on the procedures for premature release of convicts.
The initiative was aimed at jail visiting lawyers and jail para-legal volunteers and was conducted in coordination with jail authorities. Participants were briefed on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for processing cases of eligible convicts, ensuring that applications for early release are handled in a timely and effective manner.
The programme emphasized sensitization and practical guidance, enabling legal professionals and volunteers to assist convicts in navigating the legal framework for premature release efficiently.
Officials highlighted that such training sessions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen legal awareness and procedural compliance within the prison system, ultimately promoting justice and rehabilitation.
