Chandigarh, May 18, 2025: The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially confirmed the suspension of senior IPS officer Surinder Pal Singh Parmar (PB:1997), who formerly served as Punjab’s Vigilance Chief. The suspension will remain in effect until June 23, 2025.
According to a formal communication sent to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, the suspension has been approved under Rule 3(1) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969. The move follows a recommendation sent by the Punjab Government on May 5, 2025.
The Centre has also advised the Punjab Government to issue a charge-sheet against Parmar before the suspension period ends. A copy of the charge-sheet must be submitted to the Ministry for official records, suggesting that formal disciplinary proceedings are actively underway.
The suspension of a senior officer of Parmar’s stature highlights the seriousness of the case and signals strict action on administrative accountability.
