Centre and States Must Act as ‘Team India’ for Viksit Bharat by 2047: PM Modi at NITI Aayog Meet

New Delhi, May 24, 2025 – Emphasizing the transformative potential of cooperative federalism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged the Centre and all states to act in unison as “Team India” to achieve the collective vision of a developed India Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Addressing the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, PM Modi stated, “If Centre and States work together like Team India, no goal is impossible.” He added that the development of individual states directly contributes to the advancement of the entire nation. “When every state is Viksit, then Bharat will be Viksit,” he said, calling for a shared sense of responsibility across all levels of government.

Held under the theme “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047”, the meeting aimed to align national priorities with state development goals. PM Modi underscored the need for states to each develop at least one world-class tourist destination and to focus on increasing women’s participation in the workforce. He also stressed faster infrastructure development and the importance of employment generation.

Despite the gravity of the meeting’s agenda, five Chief Ministers- Siddaramaiah (Karnataka), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala), and N. Rangasamy (Puducherry) did not attend. Their absence highlighted persisting political tensions between certain states and the central government.

Still, PM Modi reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to working with all states. “This is a moment to rise above differences and work with one vision, one spirit. The pace of development must match the aspirations of the people,” he said.

NITI Aayog officials briefed attendees on strategic focus areas such as digital governance, education reforms, agricultural sustainability, and economic resilience. The meeting concluded with a call for each state to submit a blueprint of its vision for 2047 within the next six months.
