National Times Bureau :- Mohali police have registered a case against AIG Gurjot Kaler and four others in connection with the shocking suicide of Rajbir Singh, who shot himself inside an HDFC Bank branch. Rajbir Singh, a resident of Moga, was running immigration offices in Phase-11 and Sector-82, Mohali.
According to police sources, a video recorded by the deceased before taking his life has surfaced, in which he levelled serious allegations against AIG Gurjot Kaler. A handwritten note was also recovered from him. Based on this evidence, the police registered a case under sections 108 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Phase-8 police station.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when Rajbir Singh visited the bank and went to the first-floor loan department. He locked himself inside the washroom and shot himself with a revolver. The sound of the gunshot created panic inside the bank. When employees broke open the washroom door, they found Rajbir lying in a pool of blood. The body was later sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Phase-8 SHO Satnam Singh confirmed that Rajbir Singh shot himself on the temple with a revolver, which has been recovered. Police are investigating whether the weapon was registered in his name.
Authorities are also probing why Rajbir chose to commit suicide inside the bank. Investigators are examining whether he had any disputes with bank officials or if there were pending loan-related issues that may have pushed him to take the extreme step.
