Calgary Police Investigate Rollover Crash Involving 14-Year-Old Driver

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma) — The Calgary Police Service is investigating a single-vehicle rollover that occurred early Wednesday morning in the city’s northeast, involving a 14-year-old boy behind the wheel. The incident, which took place during the early hours of March 18, led to the temporary closure of several major roads as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and assess the damage. According to initial police reports, the teenage driver miraculously escaped the crash without any physical injuries, though the vehicle sustained significant damage after flipping onto its roof.

The rollover occurred in a residential area of northeast Calgary, where witnesses reported hearing a loud impact before discovering the overturned vehicle. Officers arriving at the scene found the 14-year-old boy outside the car; he was assessed by paramedics and cleared of any serious medical concerns. Due to the position of the vehicle and the debris scattered across the roadway, police were forced to cordon off the intersection and surrounding blocks for several hours, causing significant delays for early morning commuters in the area.

Investigators are currently looking into how the minor gained access to the vehicle and the circumstances that led to the loss of control. While the investigation is in its preliminary stages, officials have not yet confirmed if speed or road conditions played a role in the accident. The Calgary Police Service has emphasized the importance of vehicle security and parental supervision to prevent such dangerous incidents involving unlicensed minors. Charges are currently pending as authorities continue to interview witnesses and review any available dash-cam or surveillance footage from the vicinity.
