Calgary Marathi Association Celebrates ‘Calgary Cha Raja’ Ganpati Utsav in Grand Style

CALGARY (Rajeev Sharma): The Calgary Marathi Association (CMA) recently hosted its annual Ganpati Utsav with a special theme this year, “Calgary CHA Raja” ,successfully bringing the vibrant spirit of Maharashtra to Calgary through a series of captivating performances deeply rooted in mythology and tradition.

According to CMA President Swati Girap, the event embodies the pride of Marathi festivals, aiming to present a comprehensive cultural showcase. Girap expressed her appreciation for the sponsors whose contributions significantly contributed to the event’s success.

The celebration was attended by local MPs Jasraj Hallan, MP Dalwinder Gill, MP Amanpreet Singh, and Amrit, who extended their congratulations to the CMA team and offered support for future initiatives. Mayoral candidate Sonia Sharp also attended, extending greetings to the attendees. Additionally, management teams from RANA and Gujarati Mandal Calgary, along with notable personalities including Rishi Nagar, Minesh Patel, Sonia Joshi, and the National Times team, participated in the event.

Many Marathi families dressed in traditional attire, adding authenticity and vibrancy to the occasion, while attendees enjoyed exploring vendor stalls and savoring complimentary Indian/Marathi cuisine. The CMA management team ensured the event’s seamless execution, personally greeting guests and engaging the crowd.

The festival drew a diverse audience, not only from the Marathi community but also from other communities within Calgary, highlighting the city’s cultural richness and inclusivity.
