Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Employers, professionals, skilled workers, students and job seekers will come together in Calgary on Sunday, Sept. 13, for the Calgary Career Fair 2026, organized by the nonprofit Universal Roots Foundation under the theme “Diverse Roots, United Future.”
The initiative is aimed at helping Albertans connect with employers and explore positions suited to their skills, qualifications and experience. It will also provide employers with an opportunity to meet candidates from a range of professional and skilled backgrounds.
Participating organizations represent sectors including healthcare, dental care, home care, security, physiotherapy, information technology, education, financial services, immigrant services, automotive, retail, hospitality, marketing and other professional services. Calgary Police Service and Calgary Transit are also listed among the participating organizations.
Max/ProTax and ProTax Block are the title sponsors, while Costco Wholesale and Noble Education are among the co-sponsors.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has extended her best wishes to the organizers and participants. Organizers said the Premier’s message recognizes the importance of initiatives that help Albertans connect with employment and career resources.
Ward 5 Councillor Raj Dhaliwal has told organizers that he plans to attend. His participation is expected to bring additional attention to the role of community initiatives in connecting Calgary residents with local employment opportunities.
Savita of the Universal Roots Foundation said organizers have received a tremendous response from participants and strong enthusiasm from volunteers. She said invitations have been extended to MPs, the Premier, MLAs and the Mayor, with organizers also expecting elected representatives, community leaders and company heads to attend.
Savita said the response from employers, participants and volunteers demonstrates the level of interest in creating stronger connections between Calgary’s workforce and business community.
The organizers also thanked Calgary media organizations that have helped publicize the initiative, including RED FM Calgary and Rishi Nagar, Sursangam Radio and Ranjit Sidhu and his team, and Sabrang Radio and Rajesh Angral, Satvinder Singh Jag punjabi Tv as well as other media houses and community outlets. National Times is serving as a media partner for the career fair.
The event will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Genesis Field House, 7555 Falconridge Blvd. N.E., Calgary, and is open to professionals, skilled workers, students and job seekers from Calgary and surrounding communities.
