New Delhi, September 9, 2025 – Maharashtra Governor and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice President of India after securing 452 votes in the election.
The victory gives the NDA another key constitutional post, reinforcing its political dominance at the national level. Radhakrishnan, who has long been associated with public life and governance, will now assume the responsibilities of the country’s second-highest constitutional office.
With this win, he succeeds Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose term as Vice President ended earlier this year. Apart from serving as Vice President, Radhakrishnan will also preside over the Rajya Sabha as its ex-officio Chairman, a role crucial for steering parliamentary debates and legislative business.
The result reflects broad support within the electoral college and highlights the NDA’s growing influence in both Houses of Parliament.
