BSF Scores Major Win on Amritsar Border: Neutralizes 6 Drones, Recovers 2.3 Kg Heroin

Amritsar (National Times): In a significant counter-narcotics operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) achieved a major breakthrough on the India-Pakistan border near Amritsar by intercepting and neutralizing six Pakistani drones and recovering over 2.3 kilograms of suspected heroin in multiple incidents during the night of July 17.

The BSF’s advanced technical counter-drone measures and sharp vigilance played a crucial role in foiling repeated cross-border attempts by narco-terror networks operating from Pakistan.

Multiple Intrusions, Swift Responses

In the Pulmoran area, BSF troops responded to successive drone intrusions during the night hours. Four DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones carrying three packets of suspected heroin (gross weight: 1.744 kg) were neutralized and recovered from nearby agricultural fields. The narcotics were found attached directly to the drones.

In another incident near village Roranwala Khurd, a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone carrying 596 grams of heroin crashed after being disrupted mid-air by BSF’s technical countermeasures.

Later, in the early morning hours of July 18, yet another Pakistani drone was intercepted near Dhanoe Kalan village and successfully brought down using the same advanced anti-drone technology.

Total Seizure

Across these operations, BSF recovered:

  • 6 DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones
  • 2.340 kilograms of suspected heroin

The successful neutralization of all drones underscores the growing technological capabilities of Indian border forces and their preparedness against the evolving tactics of cross-border smugglers and narco-terror syndicates.

BSF’s Official Statement

A BSF spokesperson commended the alertness of the troops and the efficacy of the technical countermeasures. “These back-to-back successful interceptions have dealt a significant blow to Pakistani narco-terror operations. The BSF remains resolute and fully equipped to neutralize any threat to national security,” the official said.

The repeated drone intrusions reflect a worrying trend of increasing reliance on UAVs by Pakistani-based smuggling networks, but the BSF’s swift and strategic responses have reaffirmed India’s strong border defense mechanisms.
