BSF–Punjab Police Joint Operation Foils Drone-Based Drug Drop, Smuggler Held with Heroin Worth ₹10 Crore

National Times Bureau :- In a significant blow to cross-border drug trafficking, a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police has arrested a suspected smuggler along with a large consignment of heroin valued at approximately ₹10 crore. The arrest was made during a coordinated operation carried out on the basis of specific intelligence inputs.

According to official sources, the heroin consignment was allegedly dropped by operatives from across the border using a drone in the vicinity of Tanda village. Security agencies, acting on prior information, had already positioned a joint surveillance team in the area to intercept any movement linked to the drop.

As soon as the suspect reached the designated location to retrieve the consignment, the alert BSF and Punjab Police personnel moved in swiftly and apprehended him on the spot. The recovered narcotics have been seized and taken into custody for further investigation.

Police officials stated that a detailed probe is underway to uncover the forward and backward links of the arrested smuggler. Investigators are also examining the possible involvement of a larger cross-border network and the role of handlers operating from across the international border.

Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to intensifying coordinated operations to curb drone-assisted smuggling and dismantle narcotics networks operating along the Punjab border.
