British MP Preet Kaur Gill Slams Racist Sexual Attack on Sikh Woman in West Midlands

London (Rajeev Sharma): UK Member of Parliament Preet Kaur Gill has publicly condemned a racially motivated sexual assault targeting a Sikh woman in Oldbury, located in the Sandwell area of the West Midlands. The disturbing incident, reported earlier this week, is under active investigation by West Midlands Police and is being treated as a racially aggravated crime.

Preet Kaur Gill, who serves as MP for Birmingham Edgbaston and is the UK’s first female Sikh parliamentarian, expressed her outrage and concern over the attack through a statement on social media.

“I am appalled by this horrific and racially aggravated sexual assault in Oldbury. There is absolutely no place for such hate in our communities,” Gill wrote. She also extended her solidarity to the victim and her family, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

Police Launch Investigation and Public Appeal

West Midlands Police confirmed they received the report of the assault on Tuesday and began a full investigation immediately. On Friday, the force issued a formal appeal for information, asking for witnesses or anyone who may have relevant details to assist.

A police spokesperson said, “We are treating this incident as a racially aggravated sexual assault and are working to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence is encouraged to get in touch.”

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed, in line with protocols to protect her privacy and well-being.
