New Delhi, August 22, 2025: In yet another security scare at the country’s highest legislative complex, a man was caught early Friday while attempting to scale the wall of Parliament in New Delhi.
The incident occurred around 6 AM when security personnel noticed the individual trying to climb the boundary wall. Officials said he also tried to jump inside but was swiftly restrained before entering the premises.
Confirming the development, a Rajya Sabha official said, “One man tried to enter the building in an unauthorized manner at 6 AM today. He has been caught.” The intruder is now in police custody, and his motives are being investigated.
The breach attempt comes less than two years after the shocking intrusion inside the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13, 2023 the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. On that day, intruders had jumped from the visitors’ gallery during proceedings, releasing yellow gas canisters and shouting slogans, while others carried out protests outside the complex with colored smoke.
That coordinated act had led to the arrest of six individuals. While some were later granted bail, the Delhi High Court imposed strict curbs, including restrictions on speaking to the media, posting online content, or leaving Delhi NCR without permission.
Friday’s incident has once again triggered alarm over Parliament’s security preparedness and reinforced calls for tighter vigilance to prevent any repeat of past episodes that unsettled the nation.
Police said further details will be shared after the accused is interrogated.
