Mumbai (National Times): Actor Mukul Dev, known for his rich body of work across Indian cinema and television, has passed away at the age of 54. His demise was confirmed by close friend Vindu Dara Singh, who noted that the actor had been hospitalized recently following a period of ill health and emotional withdrawal after the passing of his parents.
“Mukul kept to himself lately,” Singh said. “He was a beautiful soul and will be sorely missed.”
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment world. Manoj Bajpayee, visibly shaken, described Dev as “an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched.” Actress Deepshika Nagpal also expressed shock, saying she was unable to process the loss.
An Actor Beyond Boundaries
Mukul Dev’s career began in 1996 and spanned Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam films. His debut film Dastak saw him share the screen with Sushmita Sen, and he quickly became known for his charismatic screen presence and versatile talent.
He was also a certified pilot, having studied aeronautics before choosing the path of acting. His notable projects include Jai Ho, R… Rajkumar, and the historical series 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897.
Reflecting on his career, Dev once said in an interview, “I may not be in the headlines every day, but people remember me for what I’ve done. That means something.”
