BJP Government to Form SIT for Corruption Probe in Delhi

New Delhi (National Times)– The newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi has announced that one of its top priorities will be the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe corruption allegations under the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

BJP leader Parvesh Verma, who secured a major victory by defeating former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, made the announcement while addressing party workers amid celebrations of the party’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025.

BJP Leadership to Decide on New Chief Minister

Speaking to ANI, Verma credited the party’s success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that the party’s decision on the next Chief Minister will be made in consultation with elected MLAs.

“In our party, the legislative group decides the Chief Minister, and the party leadership approves it. We all stand by the decision taken by our leaders,” Verma said when asked about speculation regarding his own candidacy for the role.

He also expressed gratitude to the voters of New Delhi, the BJP’s dedicated workers, and top leaders like PM Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for leading a strong campaign that resonated with the people.

BJP’s Key Priorities for Delhi

Verma outlined the top priorities of the BJP government, which include:
✅ Rs 2,500 financial aid for women
✅ Formation of an SIT to investigate corruption allegations against AAP
✅ Development of the Yamuna riverfront
✅ Reducing pollution levels in Delhi
✅ Easing traffic congestion

“We will develop Delhi into a capital that every citizen will be proud of,” he assured.

BJP’s Campaign Against AAP’s Alleged Corruption

During the campaign, the BJP consistently attacked AAP over allegations of corruption, targeting Kejriwal’s government with accusations related to the Delhi liquor policy scam and extravagant spending on official residences, referring to his bungalow as “Sheesh Mahal.”

People of Delhi Have Chosen Change, Says Swati Singh Verma

Parvesh Verma’s wife, Swati Singh Verma, echoed similar sentiments, stating that Delhiites were frustrated with the governance of the past 26 years and were eager for real development.

“This victory reflects the trust people have in BJP and PM Modi. The residents of Delhi were tired of false promises, and they have now chosen a government that will bring true progress,” she said.

BJP Set to Return to Power After 27 Years

As per the latest trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI):
🔹 BJP has either won or is leading in 48 out of 70 seats
🔹 AAP has secured or is ahead in 22 seats

With a clear majority, the BJP is set to return to power in Delhi after nearly three decades, marking a significant political shift in the national capital.
