BJP Calls NDA MPs Meet on August 5, Speculation Rises Over Major Political Move

New Delhi, August 4, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has summoned all Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for a crucial meeting on Tuesday, August 5, sparking intense speculation about a major political development.

In an official notice issued Monday, the BJP announced that the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting will take place at 9:30 AM at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, located in the Parliament Library Building. Attendance has been made mandatory for all NDA MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

This will be the first full NDA parliamentary gathering since July 2, 2024 shortly after Narendra Modi began his third consecutive term as Prime Minister. The timing and date of the meeting have drawn particular attention. August 5 holds deep symbolic significance for the Modi government: it was on this day in 2019 that Article 370 was abrogated, revoking Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. One year later, on the same date in 2020, the Prime Minister presided over the Ram Mandir bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya.

With both those historic events tied to BJP’s ideological core, Tuesday’s meeting is being viewed as potentially the stage for another landmark announcement.

Adding to the political intrigue are a series of high-level meetings held in the past 48 hours. On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a phone conversation between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the President. On Monday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held separate discussions with Modi, while Shah huddled with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Home Secretary Govind Mohan.

Top ministers including BJP president JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal were also seen meeting through the day, further fueling speculation of coordinated planning.

While no official agenda has been revealed, political analysts believe the BJP may be preparing a significant move either legislative or symbolic aligning with its long-term strategic objectives.

All eyes will now be on Tuesday morning’s gathering, as political circles and the public await what could be the government’s next defining step.
