Bikram Singh Majithia Appears in Mohali Court in Disproportionate Assets Case; Hearing Adjourned Till April 18

Gurpreet Singh :- Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia appeared before a Mohali court in connection with the disproportionate assets case. Majithia reached the court along with Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler and his legal counsel D.S. Sobti. After the proceedings, the court adjourned the matter and fixed the next hearing for April 18.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Majithia raised concerns over the law and order situation in Punjab, alleging that incidents of firing and violence were becoming frequent in the state. Referring to a recent incident in Amritsar, he claimed that a municipal councillor had been targeted in a firing despite having been provided security earlier, indicating that there was a perceived threat to his life.

He also cited the case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, alleging negligence on the part of the state government after his security was withdrawn prior to the fatal attack. Majithia further criticised the Punjab government over the state’s financial condition during the ongoing budget session, claiming that Punjab was under a debt of nearly ₹4 lakh crore. He also questioned the government over its earlier claim that ₹20,000 crore would be generated annually through mining, asking for an account of the estimated ₹80,000 crore over the past four years.
