Bikram Majithia Ordered to Appear for Investigation by Supreme Court

New Delhi, March 10, 2025 – The Supreme Court of India has directed senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia to join an ongoing investigation, rejecting any immediate relief in a case linked to his alleged criminal activities. The court has set March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM as the mandatory appearance date at the investigation headquarters in Patiala.

Court’s Orders and Observations

The bench, comprising Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice Aravind Kumar, reviewed the arguments from both sides and concluded that Majithia must comply with the investigation process. His legal team assured the court that he would be present for questioning as per the schedule.

The Supreme Court also clarified that if further interrogation is required, Majithia will have to appear again at the same location and time. The next court hearing has been scheduled for March 24, 2025, with additional affidavits due by March 21, 2025.

Legal Battle Intensifies

The case stems from an impugned final judgment and order dated August 10, 2022, in CRM-M No. 21391/2022, issued by the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The Punjab government, represented by senior advocate Gurminder Singh, has been actively pursuing the matter.

Political Ramifications

This development comes at a critical time for Punjab politics, where Majithia remains a key figure within the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The ongoing case and the Supreme Court’s directives could have significant political consequences, affecting his party’s standing ahead of upcoming elections.

As the legal proceedings unfold, all eyes remain on Majithia’s next move and the potential impact on the state’s political landscape.
