Big news – Punjab Govt. to act on Gym Heart Attack Cases

National Times Bureau :- The Punjab government has launched strict action after several cases of young people collapsing due to sudden heart attacks while exercising in gyms. Authorities will now test protein powders and supplements commonly used by gym-goers to check for adulteration or harmful substances.

Health Minister Balbir Singh said that the government wants to ensure people are consuming safe products. “We will soon begin testing food supplements and gym-related products to know exactly what is being used,” he added.

Along with this, gyms will also be checked for air quality and oxygen levels, as experts fear that overcrowded gyms may have poor ventilation, leading to health risks. The responsibility for this monitoring will be handled by the Pollution Control Department.

To prevent deaths in emergencies, the government also plans to introduce CPR training programs across gyms, schools, and colleges.

The urgency comes after recent tragic incidents — in Ferozepur, a 35-year-old man collapsed while playing cricket after hitting a six, and in Chandigarh’s Sector-40, another young man lost his life during exercise. In Bathinda, a man fainted due to heat but was saved after timely CPR by Local Government Minister Ravjot Singh.

Officials said schools and colleges will also see tighter checks on energy drinks and unsafe supplements to protect young lives.
